How To Use U Bolt？
1. Determine the components and positions that need to be connected. Ensure that the length of the bolt rod can pass through the component and has sufficient threads to secure the nut.
Ensure that the threaded portion of the bolt shank can fully penetrate the component.
As needed, nuts can be installed on both ends of the bolt rod.
Use a wrench or wrench tool to tighten the nut.
Ensure that the bolts and nuts are fully tightened and there are no loose areas.
Repeat the above steps to install more U-bolts at the required locations and components.
How To Measure U Bolts？
The installation of photovoltaic spiral ground piles can be roughly divided into three simple steps:
- 1. Width measurement: Use a caliper to measure the farthest distance between the threads at both ends of the U-bolt, ensuring that the caliper is perpendicular to the bolt plane, and take the maximum width value.
- 2. Matching degree of inner arc diameter: According to the actual application scenario, use a curvature template or specialized measuring instrument to check whether the inner arc curvature is consistent with the target pipe diameter, and avoid excessive gaps.
- 3. Thread parameter detection:
3-1 Diameter: When measuring the outer diameter of a thread, the thread height error needs to be deducted, and the average of multiple measurements is usually taken.
3-2 Length: The straight-line distance from the starting point to the end of the thread, excluding the head structure (U-bolts usually do not have traditional bolt heads).
3-3 Pitch: Use a thread gauge or caliper to measure the distance between adjacent thread peaks, which must comply with standard tolerances. - 4. Overall length confirmation: Measure the straight length from one end of the thread to the other end along the U-shaped centerline for installation space evaluation.

Stainless steel U-bolts: usually cannot be reused. During multiple tightening processes, the friction between the threaded pair and the mating surface of stainless steel U-bolts increases, resulting in an increase in friction coefficient and a decrease in preload force. In addition, wear and peeling of the threaded contact surface can also affect its performance, so it is not recommended to reuse it.
Carbon steel or galvanized U-bolts: These bolts have good reusability, but it is necessary to ensure that they do not undergo permanent deformation and have a good surface condition. By checking whether the threads are smooth, it can be preliminarily determined whether they are suitable for repeated use.
The strength grades of U-bolts mainly include 8.8 and 10.9. The tensile strength of 8.8 grade bolts needs to reach 800MPa, while the tensile strength of 10.9 grade bolts needs to reach 1000MPa.
The tightening torque of U-bolts needs to be calculated based on their material and design requirements. The calculation formula for bolt tightening torque is:

(T) represents the tightening torque;
(K) represents the tightening coefficient, which is generally taken as 0.13-0.15 when the machined surface is lubricated for assembly, and 0.18-0.21 when there is no lubrication for assembly;
(F) represents the preload force, for carbon steel bolts (F=(0.6-0.7) \ sigma A) and alloy steel bolts (F=(0.5-0.6) \ sigma A) ((\ sigma) is the yield strength of the bolt, (A=\ pi/16 * (d ^ 2+d_3 ^ 2)), (d_3=d_1-H/6), (d_1) is the small diameter of the bolt, (H) is the original triangular height of the thread, usually taken as 0.87 times the pitch (P)).
Using a wire brush or sandpaper: Gently wiping the rusted part of the bolt with a wire brush or sandpaper can effectively remove the surface rust. Attention should be paid to uniform force during operation to avoid damaging the surface of the bolt.
